  the ex-witnesses are thrilled with what this may mean the national level as well as the possible coverage which may be either part of the media.. .

  even if the appeal is without effect, a giant step was taken in the search for the criminalization of a religious body that causes much pain and humiliation to those who leave or forced to free and spontaneous will.. .

It would be good if others could do the same, probably in a joint action in court rather than individually, which would have more relevance to justice. Many did not believe that this could get to the point it reached, are beginning to have hope that justice may rule favorably in a situation that violates the most basic human rights and deprives thousands of people their dignity, love and affection of their families and companionship of longtime friends.

  DGP, the issue of disassociation is important, yes, because the question is how someone who surrender of a child is a personal matter, but when a religious institution that should promote love obliges its members to ostracize those who leave is an entirely different matter .

  If the posters make reference to false prophecies, etc.. will not reach the ORG. because the public in general do not know the particular beliefs and history of Jehovah's Witnesses and do not care about them, and members also will not connect mostly because they prefer to believe that here is the truth. To create a movement of solidarity with the ex-witnesses to the general public, the best way is to show the hard face of this religious organization that behind a facade of love, promotes family breakdown and the division of people who, before friends and family become stripped of the most basic rights, even violating human rights.

  Here in Brazil, something new is happening. Ex-members denounce the Jehovah's Witnesses of religious discrimination. The brazilian Sebastião Ramos (ex-JW) is the responsible for complaint. The brazilian court had rejected the accusations, but the protests continued:

  This is happening in the Northeast of Brazil, in Fortaleza, Ceará. The issue has gained wide repercution among the townspeople. Jehovah's Witnesses explain their doctrines with difficulties from door-to-door. They are saying they can talk with disfellowshipped, they do not just talk about spiritual matters. They're lying to people!

  I think that would be great, if there was a collection of personal writings of Ray, maybe a book or otherwise available. These emails convey much information and thoughts beneficial to all ex-Witnesses which is a shame they get lost and are scattered. Someone could bring them together so that everyone can be benefit from them.

  Debator, indeed, the very organization emphasizes several articles that customs that have lost their religious significance or pagan, can be practiced by us. So, I give you some examples of customs practiced today who have no religious meaning for many pagan centuries: - Alliance - Wedding cake - Applause - Birthdays - Baptism (the organization itself recognizes that this ritual predates Christianity) Of all which prohibits the Watchtower? Only birthdays. Why? In the Bible there is no law or principle that goes against this conclusion. The Christian must have the freedom to celebrate or not this kind of celebration today has no religious significance.

  i've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.

  i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.

  you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

  just setting the record straight.

  there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.

  My heart bleeds in pain at this loss. I believe that Raymond Franz followed in the footsteps of great men like William Tyndale, who although they may have comfortable lives and popular acclaim, they preferred to follow his conscience. It is because men like this, the History progresses, and many others follow they steps. Ray, God bless you and give you due reward, and to his dear wife who supported him and who now feel his loss.
